I began leading bike trips for the AMC in 1990 and led for ten years before taking a break. When I became active with the Forty Plus Committee I decided to start leading again. I took a refresher leadership course and Wilderness First Aid and now I am certified as a cross-country ski and bike leader. I have met many wonderful leaders and trip participants and Forty Plus has become one of my most enjoyable retirement activities.

Westminster-Winchedon-Templton-Barre Metric Century

Sunday, June 23, 2019 12:00 AM

A friendly metric century with several ice cream stops on the quiet back roads of central Massachusetts. Ride statrts at 9 AM in Westminster. We will wait for people at turns. Turns are pretty far apart so there is plenty of opportunities to stretch your legs if want to ride faster.

Lunch/ice cream at mile 35 in Barre after all the longer hills. There are also two places to stop for a quick swim.

You will need to be comfortable biking 13-15 mph on the flats and have a working bike, bright clothes and helmet, spare inner tube, sun block and an ability to eat ice cream.
