Mother's Day Family Weekend, AMC Shapleigh Bunkhouse - Crawford Notch, NH

Join other families for a weekend in beautiful Crawford Notch, NH! AMC Boston Family Outings has reserved the Shapleigh Bunkhouse (next to the Highland Center) for Saturday night for Mother's Day. Great hiking, socializing, and fun with the family. Spring hiking is awesome with beautiful views, cool temperatures, and no bugs! Hikes will be designed to fit the ages and interests of the kids including a hike up Mt. Willard (3.2 miles RT) with gorgeous views down into Crawford Notch ….a classic "big bang for your buck" hike.

Family Outings Bag Some 4,000 Footers with Stay at Galehead Hut

Come join us on a 2 day family hike with a stay at Galehead Hut in Franconia, NH. We will stay at this lovely hut during its self-service season and bag some 4,000 footers in the White Mountains.

We will hike up to the hut that sits at the base of Galehead Mtn., where we will already have some views across the Pemigewasset Wilderness. From the hut, we will try to hike up to as many 4,000 footers as we can and want to on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday morning before we head down, based on time, weather, trail conditions, and group ability.

Welch and Dickey Family hike with Teens/Tweens (BHP Level 3)

Join other families with teens/tweens on the leader's favorite loop hike over Welch & Dickey Mountains at the southern end of NH's White Mountains (near Waterville Valley)! This exciting loop hike travels up exposed rock slabs with dramatic views and panoramas of Mt. Tripyramid and the Sandwich range. The hike is 4.4 miles and includes 1800 ft of elevation gain. This hike is geared towards families with teens and tweens (10+). Although part of the Beginner Hiking Program for Families, a prior hike(s) is strongly recommended.

Family Hike to Wachusett Mtn, Princeton, MA (BHP Level 2)

Join other families for a leisurely-to-moderate hike to the summit of Wachusett Mountain! The hike is approximately 3 miles and 800ft elevation gain over rocky terrain. On a clear day, 360-degree views from the summit and tower are lovely! This hike is open to families new to hiking but who are in good physical shape and able to be on the trail for 3-4 hours (including snack/water breaks). Recommended for active 5yo's and up. Often known as a downhill ski destination, Wachusett Mtn is located within the 3000-acre Wachusett State Reservation, home to 17 miles of hiking trails.

Overnight family hike to Carter Notch Hut

Join us for a family friendly trip to Cater Notch Hut. We will hike the 19 Mile Brook Trail to the hut and stay one night in rustic unheated bunk rooms. Nineteen Mile Brook Trail to Carter Notch is 3.8 miles (one-way) with 1938 feet elevation gain including some minor stream crossings and steep sections. Experienced young hikers welcome with a recommended minimum age of 6 years old. Cabin is self-service and leaders will plan a dinner and breakfast that will be communally prepared in the provided kitchen.

Family AMC Lonesome Lake Hut Memorial Day Weekend, Franconia Notch, NH

Are you and your family ready for the fun and adventure of staying overnight at an AMC hut and summiting a New Hampshire 4000 footer? Spend two nights at the family-friendly Lonesome Lake hut, one of the most accessible in the Whites, and summit North Kinsman or Cannon on the second day. On Saturday we will hike 1.6 miles (and gain 1000' vertical feet) to the hut at a kid friendly pace. The route crosses 2 bridges and features a few mild rock scrambles, and the incline is moderated by switchbacks. Along the way, we will stop for snacks, look at nature and enjoy the views.

Family fun hiking and camping weekend July 31st 2020 (after 3 PM) to August 2nd (until 11 AM) at Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park in Carmel NY. Have fun, Improve your hiking and camping skills, and look forward to the option to backpack in the future. This program is at a walk-in (3 - 4 minutes) rustic group campsite next to the Appalachian Trail (AT). Rustic means tent camping, cooking outdoors and there are only portable toilets for bathroom facilities.

Family Foliage Weekend Fun in the Whites: Highland Center and Mizpah Springs Hut

Spend the weekend in the White Mountains of New Hampshire enjoying the foliage, hiking two 4000 footers, and eating well. The first night will be spent at the AMC's premier lodge, the Highland Center in Crawford Notch. After breakfast we will hear up to the Mizpah Springs Hut, which is nestled in a col between two 4,000-foot peaks. Mizpah Spring Hut is just a short distance from the fabled Crawford Path. The trail is 2.6 miles to the hut, with a gradual elevation gain of 1,900 feet through a boreal forest.
