AMC Boston Young Members Steering Committee Ongoing Volunteer Opportunity

The AMC Boston Young Members (YM) Committee is dedicated to encouraging people in their 20s and 30s to get involved in the AMC and enjoy the outdoors. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers interested in becoming involved with the Committee. Join the Young Members Google Group: Spontaneous Outings and Socials (SOS). SOS includes local hikes, walks, nature trips, socials, talks, workshops, etc., within the Boston area. The goal is to bring like-minded people together and encourage exploration, enjoyment, and appreciation of local open spaces and environmental issues. Trips and socials will be emailed 3-5 days in advance and will include meeting location, required equipment, skill level, and duration.

Craftsbury VT Cross Country Ski Weekend

Join us for a weekend of cross country skiing at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in northern Vermont. Craftsbury has the largest XC ski network in New England along with hiking trails on site, a gym, yoga classes, and more. The registration fee includes 2 nights lodging in newly built cabins (triple occupancy). This trip is generally geared toward at least intermediate level XC skiers, however inquire with the leaders if you are a beginner.

Boston YM Game Night at City Square

Join us for a night of board games and card games to remember! Bring your favorite board game or come to play something you haven't before. Game night will run from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm; come for whatever time frame works for you. There may be light snacks but you should plan on figuring out dinner plans on your own. Stowe Vermont Cross-Country Ski Weekend

Join us for the classic Stowe ski weekend in Vermont. Ski the groomed trails at Von Trapp's Family Lodge and Stowe Mountain Resort. Stay at a cozy inn complete with jacuzzis and a roaring fireplace. Trip cost of $200 includes 2 nights' lodging, 2 breakfasts, and happy hour. Downhill skiers welcome.

Winter Sports Weekend in Quebec

Spend Presidents Day weekend in the winter wonderland of southern Quebec at Mt Orford National Park. Activities include your choice of cross country and downhill skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, fatbiking, local sightseeing tour, or a visit to the spa. Trip fee of $210 includes three nights lodging double occupancy with ensuite bath, three breakfasts, and three dinners. Limited to 60 participants. Registration closes on February 1. Marianne Bonnard

Marianne became an AMC leader while she was living in Boston in 2013-17. She's kept on leading trips since her return to Québec City, with the objective of making her AMC friends discover the hiking jewels North of the border. Born and raised in Europe, she's been hiking since the age of 8, in the Alps in France, Austria and Germany. She speaks fluent French and will gladly also act as an intercultural translator!

Notch Your Ordinary YM Winter Hiking Weekend

Join us for a stay at the Notch Hostel in winter! We will stay at Notch Hostel Friday -Sunday and offer hikes of various levels. On Saturday hikes are generally harder and easier hikes on Sunday. Participants must have some winter hiking experience. Participants that are currently enrolled in the AMC's Winter hiking program or that have taken the Winter hiking program previously are welcome on this trip. This weekend is for participants that are excited to spend a weekend in the White Mountains and that want to meet other like-minded hikers and share in the winter hiking experience.

Casey leads trips year around for the hiking/backpacking committee and is an active co-leader mentor of the AMC Boston Chapter. He is heavily engaged in the H/B leadership and training programs such as Spring/Fall Leadership Training as well as our educational programs in the Spring and Winter Hiking Programs. Like other hikers that hike before sun up and after sun down and do 20+ miles, Casey likes to do the same only keep it under 10 miles :) He's experienced but not a speed daemon.
