Great combo Peaks and Pianos Saturday May 10th. Moderate hike up Mount Watatic, a favorite of family outings and one of the most popular in Massachusetts, followed by a break for lunch, then a special tour of the Frederick Historic Piano Collection.
Hike is about 3-mile loop, approximately 3 hours, 600' elevation gain with beautiful views at the summit. After Patricia Frederick of the Frederick collection of historic pianos will give us a special family-friendly tour. We will learn how the technology inside pianos has changed through the centuries, how pianos used to sound, and how all of that affects what music the piano can play. It's science and history and culture wrapped up together and presented by a real expert just for us!
Hiking boots required. Bring personal water, snacks, rain gear, hat, and a love of learning. Prepare a piece to play on an historic piano if you can (optional). Best for families with kids 10 years and older, but ask Ken if your kid is younger.
Space is limited. Questions and to register contact Ken Richman, firstname.lastname@example.org, 617-459-3565.
