Join us for a weekend camp adventure on Beal island in Maine. This trip is tailored for those that have not (or have) island camped out of a kayak. We will discuss needed gear and packing a boat as well as route planning, weather, meals, VHF basics, and other necessary topics for multi-day paddling in ocean environment. You will need paddling experience including wet exits and rescues as well as some camping experience with backpack or car (RV does not count). The distance we paddle are modest (Level 2: 8-12 miles) in mostly protected waters, but will practice paddling in currents as well as rescues with loaded boats. Rental boats are available.
Prior to this trip, there will be a Wed night social on July 25th in Newton to review camping gear and packing demonstration.
Jeff has been kayaking for many years and has led several Maine camping trips.
