Join us for a late fall hike to Mt. Jackson. At 4,052 feet, Mt. Jackson is ranked 38th on the list of New Hampshire's 48 four-thousand footers. This moderate-paced hike will begin and end at Crawford Depot on Rt 302. We will cover 5.2 miles and about 2,200 feet of elevation gain. The potential for winter conditions exists. The summit of Mt. Jackson is open but the majority of travel is below tree line. However, weather conditions may require use of traction (e.g. microspikes). May be combined with Leaders' Saturday trip to Mt. Washington; contact Leader Joe C. about accommodations ($9/person/night) for Saturday night if you'd like to combine it with the Saturday hike to Mt. Washington.
Joe is one of the Boston Chapter's most experienced and active trip leaders - his summit visits number in the quadruple digits. Included among the many outings he leads each year for the Chapter's Hiking/Backpacking Committee are the single-day Presidential Range traverse on the summer solstice, and the Map & Compass course in the fall.
