Join Family Outings to Hike a Volcano in Pawtuckaway State Park! Trip is Saturday December 1st from 10 AM - 4PM The Pawtuckaway Mountains are a classic example of an eroded volcanic crater. This hike will take us over South Mt (908') via Mountain Trail, North Mt. trail, then circling back via same trail. Loop distance approximately 6 miles. Conditions likely frozen ground, possible snow and ice. Light traction (micro-spikes) required. The route is approximately 700 ft. of elevation gain and we will hike at a moderate pace for 4 - 5 hrs. Potential trail change options, If the weather, trail conditions, or group warrants a change.
