After a social Friday evening at Harvard Cabin (https://www.outdoors.org/lodging-camping/camps-cabins/harvard), and a shared breakfast on Saturday, one group will set out to downhill ski at Wildcat, Attitash, or Cranmore, based on snow conditions and group preference. Another group will hit Jackson or Bear Notch or Great Glen for cross-country skiing.
Sunday will likely be a shorter day that may include skiing (xc nordic or downhill) and/or another winter activity (e.g., inner-tube sledding) based on conditions and group preferences.
Harvard Cabin is a rustic, but heated, structure with communal eating and cooking space, an outhouse, and cold running water. Most notably, this structure has communal sleeping loft (sleeping bags/pads on a shared floor space) accessible by a ladder.
Participants will help with meal preparation and clean up. This will include preparation of Saturday breakfast, happy hour hors d'oeuvres, and dinner, as well as breakfast on Sunday. No dinner is provided on Friday night. You are responsible for your own lunch and daytime snacks.
This trip is geared towards families with children ages 6-12.

Eliza has been leading/co-leading four-season hiking and backpacking trips with the AMC since 2006. She and her family (husband and 8 year old daughter) downhill ski several times each season. Eliza's family have extensive hiking and backpacking experience in the US national parks, but don't have any particular claim to fame when it comes to skiing. She is a good cook and trip planner, which is what counts on this adventure!
