Winter is Back! Meet at the Waterville Valley XC center at Town Square at 9:45 am for a day of moderate paced, machine cut track kick and glide skiing. We will likely split into two groups; one may stay out on the trails all day and the other may ski a few hours, return to the lodge for lunch, then ski a few hours in the afternoon. In both cases, you can either bring your own lunch or buys one from a cafe in Waterville Valley. Obviously, if you are on the trails all day, be prepared to carry your lunch! There isn't a remote Yurt or warming hut, so the weather may influence if people want to stay outside all day or not. Please arrive in time to buy your area pass, wax your skis, etc to ski off at 10 am sharp. To find us, look for leader in the XC Center lodge in a red Swix vest and black AMC hat.
To participate, please pre-register with the co-leader, Heather Roscoe at:
Ability Level & Pace: Novice to advanced skiers welcome. We recommend beginners take a group lesson before attending this trip, or take a lesson in the morning and ski with the group in the afternoon. The group will likely break into a faster and more moderate paced group. Extremely fast (and skaters) or slower skiers are welcome to self-guide.
Trail Passes: Participants should self-pay the $21 center trail fee. Please see the Waterville Valley Nordic trail pass website for details about costs http://www.waterville.com/nordic-passes/.
Conditions: These trails are machine groomed for both skate and classic skiing, and trails are patrolled. Trip may run in marginal conditions, but lack of snow and/or rain will likely cancel the trip. Consult the co-leader with questions. Ski conditions and area map available here: http://www.waterville.com/nordic-snow-report
Registration & Waiver:
This trip is sponsored by the AMC Boston Ski Committee. Signup with the co-leader is required unless otherwise specified. You will be asked to sign an AMC Waiver at the start of the trip. The waiver can be viewed at: https://www.outdoors.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Volunteer-Led-Activi...
