Have you ever wanted to stand on top of Kilimanjaro? Or explore the wildlands of Africa? Join Pam as she guides an AMC Adventure Travel group on two ascents of the world's largest freestanding mountain. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak rises majestically from the rolling savanna plain up through five microclimates with diverse ecosystems: rainforest, heather, moorland, desert, and arctic. With amazing views, Dr. Seuss-like vegetation, and remnants of massive glaciers, there is nothing like standing on the top of the Roof of Africa.
Climbing Kilimanjaro is difficult due to the high altitude, but many find it to be a life-changing experience, one of the most rewarding of their life. Similar sentiments are often expressed about a Tanzanian Safari. There is simply nothing like sitting in a rugged jeep in the middle of Africa, a few feet from dozens of graceful giraffes searching for leaves, herds of thundering wildebeests, or observing lions on a kill, the sounds of other unknown animals calling in the distance.
Join us as we travel through sight and sound to Tanzania and learn about what it takes to climb to the Roof of Africa, the incredible guides and porters who make it possible, and the warm and welcoming culture of one of the poorest countries in the world nonetheless rich in beauty and wildlife.
