Come join us on a 2 day family hike with a stay at Mizpah Spring Hut in Crawford Notch, NH. We will stay at the lovely hut during its self-service season and bag 2 or 3 4,000 footers in the White Mountains. The main route will go over Pierce and Jackson, which are two four-thousand footers with great views, but on the easier side for four-thousand footers. There might also be a chance to go summit Eisenhower depending on the conditions and the pace of the group. All 3 of these summits have stunning views of Mt. Washington, the presidentials and far beyond on a clear day.
We will all hike to the hut and drop our gear, then proceed to Mt. Pierce with great views of the presidentials. Once we get to the summit, there might be an option to go to Mt. Eisenhower, depending on the time, weather, and group speed. The next day, we will go up to Mt. Jackson, which boasts more stunning views into Crawford Notch, and then hike down and take a short road walk back to our cars.
**Note**: All of the summits in the main plan are above treeline. All plans are subject to change and could be altered if there is poor or dangerous weather.
We will stay at the Mizpah Spring Hut. It will be self-service season, so we will carry and make our own food, as well as bring our own sleeping bags. Dinner and breakfasts are included, but participants will need to bring 2 lunches and other trail snacks. We will all make and cleanup dinner and breakfast as a group. There is a full kitchen with plates, cups and silverware at the hut. We will pack out our own trash, which will include unfinished food and all plastic bags/wrappers.
The hut is big and family-friendly, with co-ed bunkrooms.
This trip is recommended for families with kids 12 and older, but people will be screened by ability, and not by age.
